Sample itineraries / Istanbul, Two Continents...
You have us as your tour guides and a private touring vehicle in service since we are covering different sections of the city, not in walking distance to eachother.
Starting at 9am,
first stop of the day is
Galata Tower : Byzantine, 600 years old, built to have a control over the ancient harbour... the upper gallery of this tower gives excellent views of the entire city
Next is a drive from Galata Tower to the Asian side of Istanbul,
to have a look at an imperial palace:
Beylerbeyi Palace: summer palace of the last six Ottoman sultans, 150 years old, by the Bosphorus
The Old City and traditional Istanbul is behind now...
having a coffee break along Bagdat Street gives our guests a very good idea about modern Istanbul & Istanbulians.
After all, isn't Istanbul a city of million faces... from traditional to modern... all in harmony, not spoiling one another ! Maybe this is the reason why the city is always so attractive.
Giving an example from myself... the designer of this web-site and probably your tour guide in Istanbul...
I live on the Asian side of Istanbul and each morning, I wake up as an Asian... however, I spend the rest of my day on the European side, touring around with my guests all the time ! Which other city offers this feeling... being Asian & European at the same time !!!
The day is not yet over.
We are driving back to the European side and taking a boat for a cruise along the Bosphorus lasting appx an hour.
The location we are taking the boat is Ortakoy; under the first suspension bridge, a social meeting place of Istanbulians... a synagogue, a church, a mosque... all open for practice... side by side, in this small neighborhood.
This tour is over around 4.30pm and we will be back to hotel/port appx at 5pm. |
